Cloth Diapers, Where and how can you get started?

Are you thinking about trying cloth diapers, but completely overwhelmed by all the "cloth diaper talk"? There are so many different types, brands, fabrics, accessories. So much to learn! It can certainly be overwhelming at first! Here are a few tips to simplify things.

1. Attend a Cloth Diaper 101 course. If there is a local cloth diapering store near your home, see if they offer a Cloth Diaper 101 course. Seeing the diapers in person can really help you decide what is best for you!

2. Get a copy of Changing Diapers: The Hip Mom's Guide to Modern Cloth Diapers. Oh how I wish this book was around when I was looking into cloth diapers! It's a great resource, an easy read, and really helps break down everything you need to know.

3. Ask questions! Don't be afraid to ask questions. We were all newbies at one time and have learned a lot along the way. Ask an experienced cloth diapering parent your questions. Hang out on our Facebook page and see what other questions others have. You can learn a lot just be following along. Also, attend the Monday night #clothdiapers chat on Twitter. It's a great way to see what is working for others and another opportunity to seek advice.

4. Start with a small, assorted stash. Don't worry about having everything you need to cloth diaper full time. Start small, try out a few different brands and types of diapers. Then, once you figure out what you like, you can purchase the rest of your stash. If you end up with diapers in your initial stash that just don't work for you, trade them in for store credit!

Before long, you'll get the hang of cloth diapering and be an expert in no time!

Can you think of any other easy ways to "get your feet wet" and get started with cloth diapers?  Please share!

I watched A LOT of videos before I began CDing and in the beginning when I had questions. My personal favorite are the videos by Obbs and Lala ;).
