Yay for Friday's! Time to feature yet another Fluff Addict! This week it's a super sweet mama named Carrie and man, I just love her daughter's name, Claire! So cute!
First, tell us your name and a little about your family.
My name is Carrie and I am a previous insurance agent / current SAHM to almost-three-year-old Jack and eight-week-old Claire. I met my husband, Charles, 12 years ago at a blackjack table in Las Vegas (I swear).
Where are you located?
Wylie, Texas (yeeeehaw, y'all!)
Do you have or have you had children in cloth diapers? Were you cloth diapered as a child?
cloth diapers (although I am really, really hoping to have just ONE in diapers in the next few weeks as we are strongly bribing, I mean encouraging, Jack to use the potty). I was cloth diapered as a baby although my mom always tells me it wasn't as easy back in the day as it is now.
What's the primary reason you chose to use cloth diapers?
Originally, I intended to do something that would be better for my baby and the environment, as well as save money. I have to admit I am probably not saving that much money anymore, it seems like every time I find a new diaper or my favorite brands come out with new colors, I *must* have them. ;)
Favorite part about using cloth diapers?
Not only are they cute and I can coordinate them with the baby's outfits, but every time I put one on I feel like I am doing something good for both my child and our earth (which is where my child lives, so double bonus!).
What does your family or friends think about your decision to use cloth?
At first they thought I was off my rocker, but I think everyone is on board now. My mom always talks about what a great idea it is and how great they are and how she wishes diapering had been this easy when I was a baby. I am pretty sure my non-cloth-diapering friends think I'm batty, though.
Any funny cloth diaper related stories or bloopers you'd like to share?
My first experience with the diaper sprayer was a complete disaster. I had the sprayer on full-blast and managed to spray all of the poop off in one good spray...but it splattered ALL. OVER. THE. BATHROOM. As in...everywhere. All over the top of the toilet (no, not IN it...), all over the walls and the floor and the toilet paper holder and...you get the idea. It was not fun to clean up, but I learned my lesson and have improved my diaper-sprayer technique.
Besides the actual diaper, what would you consider to be a must have cloth diaper accessory?
Cloth wipes. My little girl has only fussed once during a diaper change, and that was when I had to use some cold disposable wipes on her bottom. I felt so bad, I haven't used them again since! Instead we use cloth wipes with a wipe solution and she is much happier. My son even asks for the "butt spray" when I change him.
Of all the Knickernappies products, which would you most like to try and why?
I would love to try the one-size side snapping pocket. I have mostly pockets and AIOs and I am intrigues by the side snaps but haven't tried them yet!
What piece of advice would you give to a mom considering cloth diapers for her baby?
Start small - there are so many choices out there, it is overwhelming! Pick a few diapers you'd like to try and go from there.
