Do you plan to save or sell your diapers?

When considering cloth diapers one of the major benefits is the fact that you can save them for use on future children. Already having your diapers paid for in full when your next little one comes along would definitely be nice and further demonstrate that cloth diapering can save you a ton over disposable use.

However, once you're knee deep in cloth diapers and full-on addicted to fluff, you come to the realization that it's really no fun if you can no longer buy new diapers!  You also, by this point, have realized there's quite a market for the buying and selling of used diapers.  In fact, there are whole websites dedicated to it.

Deep sigh of relief...You can complete your stash and then when you tire of a diaper or see one you really really want, you can sell some of your old ones or trade for it.

So, back to my original point, when you have a new little baby to diaper are you seriously not planning on buying any new diapers for that cute new little bum?

Chances are you've already thought about it and I'm willing to be that most of you will not and can not resist buying new cloth diapers for the new baby.  So you'll sell some of the old ones to finance the new?  Or even if you don't know when or if you'll have more children, will you save your existing stash or do you already plan to sell them when you're done and buy new ones when the time comes?

We'd love to read your thoughts!

i have used cloth from the time my little guy was about 1 month old. he is my first and we plan on having 3-4 kids. i have enough to not ever buy more (i have a set of small sized for newborn and then one sized for older babies/toddlers). my son is almost 2 and still using them and they are in great shape.

when i am done with having kids, i'd like to donate them if they are still usable to a mom who might want to cloth diaper, but doesn't have the money for the initial investment.

My son is one year old and I have saved everything in hopes for another baby in the very near future. My dreams of a brother or sister for him were put on hold when my husband handed me divorce papers. I am parting with everything that I have saved in the last year but am really stuck when it comes to the diapers. I am currently not using them. Any suggestions from other moms who have been down this road?

For me, it depends on the diapers. I bought a lot of newborn diapers and only used them for a month with our second daughter, so I have saved them (and lent them out to several people since) for our next baby. After that, we moved to a one-size diaper which my daughter has been in for almost 2.5 years. In order to reuse them, I would have to replace the tabs and elastic, and I would honestly rather sell them. So I have purchased a new stash of one-size diapers for our new baby and will sell these diapers when my daughter is out of them. If we used sized diapers, it might be different, but we have definitely gotten our money out of these!

When I was planning on having more kids, I did save my diapers but now that we are done I plan on selling them. I have already sold the diapers my son has outgrown. I had to swallow the lump in my throat when they went out the door :(
That being said, I have sold some diapers that fit him but I have fallen out of love with so I could try something new. It had to be done because like you mentioned - I had too many!- and still do, ha ha!

I saved my 2nd child's cloth diapers for my 3rd child. NOW, I just moved out the original stash and my 3rd child has her very own- and VE RY DIVERSE stash. I am so excited with her stash because I just keep adding to it. I had no clue there was another world from what I knew until a year ago!

My 3rd child is my last and I will probably sell the stash or give it to a friend or family member.

I'm on my third cloth diapered kid and have bought at least a few new diapers for all of them. I've never sold any used ones, though. I passed a few on to others for free (which some moms generously did for me). I think I may finally sell a few of the ones that really didn't work for us, though, this time.

I plan to sell, but only because I KNOW this is my last child. Got my tubes tied when I had this one, so I can't change my mind LOL. I'll be selling my high resale value pockets and finding a local mama in need for my prefolds and ebay dipes.

Anonymous, I'm so sorry to hear about your divorce! Maybe you could set the diapers aside and worry about them later. They will still be there in six months or a year.

I'm on my 3rd cloth diapered baby (so we've been using cloth for 5 years now), and I still have many diapers from my first daughter (all in excellent condition, thankfully!). But with each baby I do tend to go through our stash and see what we've used a lot of and what has barely been touched, and sell those to fund more of what we DO love. And then if those don't work out, we repeat the process. LOL

I have a 3 month old and have already put up his newborn CDs for our next child, we were very happy with them and I was able to get almost all the stains out! I am sure I will buy a few new ones here and there for a new baby and I am still buying for this one!

I plan to make and keep all ours. And just make more as needed. We plan to EC mostly (at least with the first kiddo!) and use pre-folds as back up when out. So they'll save easy, and can be used by someone else when not in use, and in the very final end, be great cleaning rags!

well i started CD when my son was 2 and even thou i told my self to get neutral colors those boy prints are just to hard to resist! So if i have another boy then i will reuse but if my plans go well and i have a girl then i will resale and get girly diapers.
