Do you secretly dread the day that they will potty train?

Article Contribution by The Cloth Diaper Geek

I know it sounds bad but I think that most or at least some of you agree that you'll be sad when your cloth diapering days are over and your babies are potty trained.

This weekend I had a chance to host out local Great Cloth Diaper Change but I had no babies to change.  It was bittersweet and I was reminded of when my little guys showed signs they were ready to stop wearing their fluffy diapers.  I was happy to not have to do diaper laundry but I was sad at the same time.

I've found many ways to stay involved in the cloth diapering community through advocacy and various other ways but I sooo miss having my own little fluffy bottomed baby to tote around on my hip.

Now that it's over for me I look back at photos of my sons and wish I had taken more pics of them in their cloth diapers, granted I have a ton, but I wish I had more.  I also wish I would have had their photos professionally taken in their diapers, and I wish I had tried more of a variety of styles.  I am envious of all of you who are diapering today with all the new brands and diapering systems there are.

Of course no one wants to prolong their childrens diapering days but I am sure that some of you are in no hurry for them to potty train and maybe are more inclined to wait until their ready, for both your sake and theirs, more so than you would if they were disposably diapered.

So what are your thoughts?  Are you dreading the day that you'll no longer use or need cloth?  Will you feel like your hobby, your passion, your obsession has been ripped from you?  Do you think you'll be sad?

I'd love to read your comments!

I look forward to using cloth as back up, it is so cute, but we plan to EC mainly.

Either way, even now thinking of them passing the age of toilet/diapering dependence makes me teary, and I'm not even pregnant yet!

Honestly, no. It's all part of growing up and being more independent! Plus, since we want two kids, I can always pack the fluff away for when we need it the second time around. When our youngest is done potty training, it'll be a good chance for me to give my stash to another cloth mama :o)
