Today's Featured Fluff Addict is...Gina!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you are located, how many kids you have, little ones in cloth, etc.-
I'm Gina! I'm a 43 year old work at home wife/mom.  I live in San Antonio, Texas with my husband of ten years and my 5 month old son.  We have exclusively cloth diapered our son since he was two weeks old.

What made you decide to give cloth diapers a try?
My main reason was to save money.  I wanted to stay home with my son and cloth diapering was one way I could save money on our household budget.  Now, I also like that I'm not contributing to the billions of disposable diapers that go to landfills each year.  And, not having my baby exposed to chemicals from disposable diapers is a wonderful benefit, as well.

What were your friends and family's reaction when seeing the "new" cloth diapers and have they been supportive or skeptical of your choice to use cloth diapers?
My husband was VERY apprehensive but my Mom was supportive.  All three of us went to a cloth diaper class together to see what was entailed to use and maintain modern cloth diapers.  We were all pleasantly surprised how easy it truly is to cloth diaper compared to when my Mom used cloth diapers.  She was absolutely amazed by the ease of pocket diapers!  All our friends who use disposable diapers still think we're crazy!

What was your very first cloth diaper?
Newborn Prefolds and covers that I rented for 2 months from a local WAHM diaper retailer.  After the two months, I bought Infant Indian Cotton Prefolds, 4 covers, and a few pocket diapers to try out, including a Knickernappie One Size Pocket Diaper in Royal Blue.

What type of diapers does your stash primarily consist of; pockets, aio, onesize, prefolds, flats, hybrids, etc.?
Primarily GroVia AI2/Hybrid Shell with Organic Soaker Pads for day use, GroVia BioSoakers for when we are out of the house, and Pocket Diapers for nighttime (bumGenius, Knickernappies, and Happy Heinys).  I'm a bona fide fluff addict so I also have Indian Cotton Prefolds, Fitteds, All-In-Ones, and One Size Diaper Covers in my stash.

What is your favorite Knickernappies product or which Knickernappies product are you dying to try and why?
I have tried several Knickernappie products-One Size Pocket Diaper, Loopy Do insert, Changing Pads, and Nursing Pads.  I love them all but my favorite right now is the Baltic Amber Teething Jewelry which as really helped my son with teething pain.  I'm dying to try a KN pail liner!  I've had some issues with the PUL detaching from my current wet bag and I know first hand that KN's PUL is practically indestructible!

Do you have a favorite place to hang out and talk or learn about cloth ; a blog, message board, facebook page, etc.?
Definitely facebook!  I have my own WAHM FB page dedicated to cloth diapering information, fan/parent interaction, and giveaways- http://www.facebook.com/GinaTurellaGarciaGoBabyGo

What cloth diapering item, besides diapers, do you consider to be a must-have accessory?
I know most moms say a diaper sprayer but since I really haven't needed one yet, I'd say reusable wipes!  I have 36 that are continuously in rotation-I use at least 6-10 each day not only to clean my little one's bum but also to wash his face, clean up spit up, etc.  They are so much more economical than disposable wipes!

If you could share just one tip with someone who is just starting out with cloth or considering using cloth, what would be your best piece of advice to them?
When you buy cloth diapers, be sure to try the diapers on your child BEFORE you wash them!  Even though many diapers have weight ranges or claim to be "One Size", not all diapers fit every baby.  Use a liner, try it on your baby to assess the fit, THEN either wash or return it.  I had to return some one-size pocket diapers sized 8-35 lb. that I bought for my baby because they didn't fit him in the legs, even at 2 months old, weighing 11 1/2 lb.!  Luckily I got back 100% because they had not been used or washed!

Thanks so much Gina, for being a Fan of Knickernappies and for sharing your story!
