Friday's Featured Fluff Addict is....Sara, a self-proclaimed "closet treehugger!"

Today's Featured Fluff Addict is Sara, mama to Meredith and Heston! Read our interview below and get to know her better.  If you're interested in being a Featured Fluff Addict here on the Knickernappies Blog please visit our Discussions Tab on Facebook for more details on how to submit your bio.  Thanks!

Tell us a little about yourself, where you are located, how many kids you have, little ones in cloth, etc.-
I'm Sara.  I am a stay-at-home wife/mom/college student in a rural Texas small town.  I have a 4 year-old daughter (Meredith) and an 18 month-old son (Heston).  Heston has been in cloth his entire life.

What made you decide to give cloth diapers a try?
My husband and I are closet treehuggers, and decided before our son was even conceived that we would do cloth with him.  We wanted to keep thousands of disposables out of a landfill, and in this economic climate, the money we would save on diapers was a driving factor as well.  I haven't had to buy new diapers since around this time last year when Heston was about 6 months old and grew out of his FuzziBunz smalls, which is AWESOME!  About a week into our cloth diaper experience, we kicked ourselves for not being brave enough to cloth diaper our daughter.

What were your friends and family's reaction when seeing the "new" cloth diapers and have they been supportive or skeptical of your choice to use cloth diapers?
I started announcing our decision to use cloth when I was pregnant, to mixed reviews.  Older family members tried to scare me with their horror stories of having to dunk in the toilet, of entire days spent cleaning their diapers, the leaking, the rashes.  Other family and friends ranged from "You just let me know when you need me to bring you some REAL diapers" to "You're crazy, but good luck!" to "Awesome! I want to try cloth too!"  Two friends have gone cloth as a result of our decision.
What was your very first cloth diaper?
FuzziBunz Perfect Size small. We started using them about two weeks after Heston was born, when his circumcision healed.  We had been given some newborn disposables as a shower gift, so those came in handy while we were taking care of that.  I sold his smalls to a friend of mine. Her 6 month-old daughter has been in those since birth.

What type of diapers does your stash primarily consist of; pockets, aio, onesize, prefolds, flats, hybrids, etc.?
We have equal amounts of FuzziBunz mediums, an array of onesizes (SmartiPants, Knickernappies, HautePockets, SweetPea), and covers (Bummis, Thirsties) with prefolds.  Our inserts are primarily microfiber, but now that Heston is getting older we have to double up at every diaper change, so we wrap an insert with a cotton prefold.  I also have some hemp inserts that I LOVE.

What is your favorite Knickernappies product or which Knickernappies product are you dying to try and why?
I love Knickernappies onesize.  The trim fit is great for a kid on the move (running, climbing, terrorizing), and he hasn't quite figured out the snaps are on the side so he doesn't try to take them off.  I'd love to try the sprayer, but I haven't been able to justify the expense.

Do you have a favorite place to hang out and talk or learn about cloth ; a blog, message board, facebook page, etc.?
I have several online diaper stores and diaper brands on my Facebook "like list".  I go to their blogs and FB pages for advice.  I also am a fan of RockinGreen's Facebook page.  That's a great place for information.

What cloth diapering item, besides diapers, do you consider to be a must-have accessory?
RockinGreen detergent.  We had some serious buildup issues about a year in, even though we had only used bad-stuff-free liquid detergents.  RockinGreen fixed us right up and I've never looked back.

If you could share just one tip with someone who is just starting out with cloth or considering using cloth, what would be your best piece of advice to them?
I tell people that cloth is not as scary as it sounds; cloth's come a long way.  We've taken a vacation and go camping twice a month, all without disposables.  I also suggest using RockinGreen or another popular cloth detergent.
