Do you really fold your diaper laundry?

I have to fess up, I am one who didn't fold my diapers after they came out of the laundry. I'd like to tell you that it was because I didn't have anywhere good to store, that's a valid excuse right? Well I sort of didn't have anywhere nice to put them after they were folded but even if I did I am not sure I would have used it...

The truth is that I had twins in cloth and was already overwhelmed with the daily routines and adjusting to the fact that our family went from 3 to 5 overnight and laundry was already one of my downfalls. The washer and dryer were both always full and there was always laundry to be folded. Having to fold and pre-stuff my cloth diapers after they came out of the laundry just so that I could reach for them and use them all over again ended up seeming unlogical to me.

At first I tried to keep up with the folding and stuffing so that I could admire my stash in all it's glory but in no time I had transitioned to keeping them in large toy bucket with handles, a huge one. When I needed a diaper I would just reach in and grab what I needed. It worked for me but I am certain that this method would drive many of you insane!

So my question is....Do you even fold your diapers? Do you pre-stuff them, display them nicely, arrange them in a rainbow, photograph them in all their fluffy glory? We'd love to hear from you and see pics of your stash whether it be in a huge pile or stored all neatly alphabetized by manufacturer name.

I fold them (much easier to just grab a prestuffed diaper when you have a squirmy baby on the change table, and the hubby doesnt know how to stuff them). I sort them by brand or by colour. I switch it up sometimes :)

I stuff, but do not "fold" they are color coded by how they are stuffed for ease of "grabbing" then they live in the cloth boxes in the cubbies in the changing table. (They are just in the boxes all willy nilly though)

I will admit to days that it takes all day to get them all stuffed and I have to "bargain" with myself to do 3 at a time before each change. My goal is always to have a "day off" between stuffing and the next wash day!

Mine aren't really sorted, but I do go ahead and pre-stuff them. For a long time I was putting them face up, and recently I went to take pictures for a blog post for a retailers (I hope they publish!), and I turned them over. They are MUCH more attractive that way! If you put a photo opp on your facebook page and make an announcement about it, then I'd be happy to upload the pictures I took to it at some point! Unfortunately, I don't have any KN :-( YET!

You should be able to upload pics to the Knickernappies Wall on FaceBook http://www.facebook.com/knickernappies and then they also automatically go to the Fan Photos. :) We'd love to see pics of everyone's diapers.

I will be honest and say that 70% of the time I am grabbing diapers out of the dryer. But sometimes I do manage to stuff them all, and then I do fold them as well. I don't color code though. I pretty much know what is where in general.

I did set up a nice storage system to be my motivation to put my diapers away.

I got the idea off of google. Some of my KNs are in the middle bottom cubby :)

Erin that looks great! Maybe I would have folded mine if I had somewhere as easy as that to store them. Although I am pretty sure the babies would have dragged them all out and unfolded them...

It's the only laundry I do fold!

I stuff all of my pocket diapers and fold all of my flats, then store them stacked up in cloth boxes and baskets in my daughter's room and in our "changing area" downstairs. I rotate them by putting the clean ones on the bottom so that they all get even wear. Ok...I just admitted I'm neurotic. But it's ok. We're all friends here, right?

I stuff the pocket diapers, fold them in half (pretty colors out) and put them in a cloth bin. The fitted diapers get tossed in a drawer.

I always stuff all the diapers before I put them away, but I have enough diapers I can let them sit in the basket for a day before I get around to it. (My daughter can wear almost all the medium and large diapers right now, so we have lots, but I still do the wash about every other day because they seem to get cleaner that way.)

I prestuff my diapers and stack them, but I admit that I don't store them pretty. I have two soft handled toy bins. One bin has stuffed pockets and AIOS. The other holds fitteds, prefolds, extra soakers, and covers. That way I don't have to search for what I need and I can easily grab it. I wish I had a nicer looking system, but this works for now.

...I will admit, like Erin, though that I get busy sometimes and just grab from the dryer as I go.

I used to fold all of our diapers and line them up in neat stacks. Like you said...it was so I could admire them in all their colorful glory! But toward potty training, I learned the equal glory of just stacking inserts next to open pocket diapers. After that, we stuffed as needed. This time around, we might be "lazy" again and stuff as needed. Although, in my mommy nesting, I DID fold everything for the first use!

I have been known to line them up and take a photo. And I do try to stuff them so all I have to do is grab. But once stuffed, alot of time they just go into the bins on her shelves any-old-way.

Funny, I was getting ready to do a post about this for Monday on my blog!

I do try to fold them but often I reach and have to stuff on busy days. I too have twins and we went from 3 kids to 5 kids ranging in age from 6 down to the twins who are 6 months old now. I ALWAYS have laundry too. I can get it all done and take one day off of laundry and have 3 loads in one day it seems! Prestuffed diapers are much easier for the diaper changes though. Or at least a neat pile of prefolds and covers to just grab and go instead of search and go.

I do fold our diapers, though I can admit not always right away. I despise laundry as well. But when I do fold them, I also stuff the pockets, and clean out all the lint from any velcro.

I stuff, snap, fold, and otherwise put the diaper back to the shape it was in when it came to me. LOL!! But seriously, I do. I find it much easier to grab a diaper that is ready to go when I need it than to battle a wiggly fussing toddler *while* trying to stuff a diaper! This is also one of the reasons I am slowly switching from pockets to AI2/AIOs and fitteds. NO stuffing!! :)

I also *used* to sort them by color, but then I realized that I would always grab from the front and not all of my diapers where getting used! So, now I just put the clean ones in the back of the line.
